What lives on oil, has a deep fryer, steering wheels, a honker and a cash register? A transformer! No it's actually the latest creation by ex-Tetsuya sous chef Stuart Mcgill. And that aforementioned oil comes in two types. Petroleum and vegetable. Delightful. The concept is basically a kitchen in a truck that drives all around the Sydney area serving up Korean Japanese food. It just so happens that it dropped by my uni so I couldn't miss out on a quick lunch before an exam.
There sadly wasn't a lot to choose from that day but the steak ssam caught my eye.
It was lacking a bit of acidity but that gochujang sauce was just gorgeous. It had almost a nutty satay quality with a little thumping of chilli. The steak was wonderfully tender perfumed with the usual Thai/ Korean aromats.
The cake was airier than I expected and the chocolateyness? was a bit lacking but it went really really well with the super fudgey caramel and crunchy sugary salted peanuts topped it off. Classic combo you can hardly go wrong with.
